In Associate degree programs, pupils are required to achieve 60 credits, which ordinarily takes about 2 years of full-time class work. Associate degree programs are often given at local community colleges or can be obtained from one of the many vocational or technical institutes.

Bachelor degree programs require students to complete approximately 120 credits worth of courses and are normally offered at four-year colleges and universities. Bachelor degrees are traditionally completed in four years of full-time study but may take approximately six years of part-time study by the this method.

Students have to finish 30-35 credits of postgraduate level classes in order to complete their master's degree program. This generally takes between eighteen months to two years of full-time study or two to three years of studying part time. PhD programs usually require four to eight years of schoolwork. As a rule, certificate curriculum is vocational or professional courses that can take a few days to one year of study based upon the program and the subject. Nursing degrees can be obtained without difficulty.
